Photonics for Quantum and AI

ABOUT US

Open the door of
next-generation computing with photonics

Professor Nakagawa’s research focuses on photonics for next generation computing to realize quantum computers and AI hardware.

Quantum: We develop quantum-dot vertical microcavities for high-speed, deterministic generation of indistinguishable single photons or entangled photon pairs to realize scalable photonic quantum computers with single-photon qubits and quantum interconnects to transmit quantum states. We also develop topological photonics to realize scalable trapped-ion quantum computers.

AI: We develop photonic active cavities to realize AI hardware as CPU accelerator for scalable and universal reservoir computing.
